Oh dear, will this never end? The forum in question is an old one, I think our friend David (Bannerman) was quite active on it at one stage. I note the Wikipedia article is under consideration for deletion, so let's hope common decency prevails.
Why do people get so obsessed about things?

well said Nigel. At least that dreadful discussion has been closed by the moderator over there. Someone was actually talking about scanning death certificates at one point of it.

I take it that one is referring to what I call the Ghouls Forum, now thankfully locked.

Dear Friends,
this is my first post in this forum and I don't want to ad fuel to the fire, I know this is a sensitive delicate subject. I rediscovered the "Famous Five" just days ago an a German website. I must admitt, like many did, I was in love with Michele Gallagher too, despite her role as a tomboy.
Forgive me for asking this, I don't want sound rude or impolite, I typed in her name and received (as you can imagine) the news of her passing.
But I've also stumbled upon this. (As far as I did researche this hasn't been mentioned)
http://www.breastcancercampaign.org/how/organise/
If looking at the facial features and the smile, the Michelle Gallagher (I know one L too much) depicted there could be an older version of our Michele Gallagher.
The Website is a British one.
Could this be a small strike of hope.

Welcome to the forums George, but I really don't think we want any more speculation about photos of Michel(l)e Gallaghers that people have stumbled across. As fans, we may have a desire to learn a little more about Michele Gallagher's life, if only to know that she at least had some happy times as an adult. However, it's entirely up to Michele's friends and family whether or not they wish to come forward and share any memories. I don't like the idea of digging for information.
In the meantime, why not use this thread to talk about special moments from the Famous Five TV series, i.e. scenes in which George played a major part? Personally I always love watching the "moody" George at the beginning of Five On Kirrin Island and the way she gradually softens a little as she gets to know her cousins.

An excellent idea, Anita. It would be far more decent a way to remember her. I can understand anybody who wants to know more about her, especially as the 78 series made feel many of us being quite close to both the action and the heroes/characters (or the actors playing them), but there is and has to be a limit. Besides, what if you find out things you didn't want to know? By a joint memorizing of our favourite scenes with Michelle we do her more justice. Let what happend after the series be left in oblivion until people who know come forward. If that doesn't happen, well, then so be it.
So here are some of my favourites: In general all the scenes in which she was deeply absorbed in thought, it gave such a wonderfull expression to her face. Then of course the episode on Rooker's Farm at the table, she wants to come along and Julian say "no". Quite fiercly so, btw. More to follow...
Cheers
Dick

I do love the scenes when George gives her Daddy a warm hug, almost always after an adventure has ended. All the thouhtfulness disappears from her face then and she`s all warm and friendly and has this lovely smile on her face

I totally agree. What a lovely smile this girl had, no wonder everyone warmed to the character of George.
Love your avator, Diana.

I had a (not so) secret crush on her.
One of my favourite scenes is in the opening sequences, where Michele skids on her bike.
It's so 'George' in every way.

I recently came across the forthcoming DVD release of FF on Amazon. It was one of my favourite programmes from the 70's along with The Sweeney ( strange combination) I also collected the novels with the TV Tie-in covers. I remember the actors featured heavily in the junior TV Times, LOOK-IN and a brilliant comic strip that ran for ages. Over the years I wondered what happened to the actors involved, I presumed they dropped out of acting. Searching online I came across the Enid Blyton society and amazed to discover I was not the only one and there are others out there who treasure the TV series with great fondness. Deeply shocked to hear Michele is no longer alive, I don't want to know the reasons why but she was by far the best actor in the series.

Both Marcus and Gary keep in touch with the Society, and Gary posts occasionally on the forums. They have both 'appeared' at Society Days. We look upon them as friends. Gail Renard came to the 2010 Day too. It would be lovely to meet Jenny (there is a Yahoo Group dedicated to her) as well, but I think she likes to keep out of the spotlight now. It would have been great to have met Michele, but sadly it wasn't to happen.
There was incredible chemistry between the principal actors of the 70s series which, from what we've seen from Marcus and Gary at Society Days, continues to this day. I hope the DVD set is a success.
Marcus was in Salisbury on Saturday, to attend a screening of two short films. Unfortunately, I couldn't attend as I was otherwise occupied!

Really enjoying reading through all the posts including the YouTube links and the radio broadcasts, I'm learning so much, the TV Broadcasts were so long ago and with the demise of Southern TV I have never rewatched them, I'm keenly anticipating the DVDS.
I must admit I have never revisited the FF books even when studying children's literature at Uni, I still vividly recall the fiery Uncle Quentin and the headstrong George, Michele encapsulated the role so well.
Anyway best wishes all!

I still pine for Southern!
It is quite surprising, considering the plethora of digital channels now, that both series never seem to get repeated showings.

How, with Fred Dinage and that old bloke smoking a pipe was another classic Southern TV children's programme. It's a great shame that ITV have abandoned children's programmes, no more Tiswas with Sally James or Magpie with the gorgeous Jenny Hanley, kids today don't know what they are missing.
Sorry I'm going completely off topic but FF with its high production values would never get commissioned today.
